BRAD COONEY'S SUGGESTION TO RELEASE FLOYD WITH CONDITIONS STINKS

PhilBoxing.com

CANOGA PARK, CA -- There is a reason why we have a justice system in this country. Roughly, one of these is to serve notice that if ?you can?t do the time, don?t do the crime.?

Brad Cooney is a very sensible guy and he writes very well. Often times, intelligently.

But his latest article calling for the release of Floyd with certain conditions stinks.

Cooney calls for Floyd?s release because as Floyd?s lawyers say ?he is not able to maintain his top physical condition due to being locked up in his cell for 23 hours per day.?

Hello!

Isn?t that what jail is all about?

Did Floyd expect to be in Club Paradise?

Now Cooney comes up with this brilliant idea to release him and place him under house arrest with the following conditions: (a) donate money to build safe house/shelters for abused women (b) undergo group therapy and anger management classes (c) give public presentations about domestic violence and why its never acceptable behavior.

Such conditions to me mean one thing:- buying one?s self out of jail. If that is the case why don?t we just let Floyd buy his freedom outright, like for example for 50 million dollars?

He is filthy rich and can afford that isn?t it?

Who cares if Floyd gives money to feed the homeless/hungry and donates to cancer research?

Many people do the same stuff. Others do more. Will they be qualified to buy their freedom in case they are jailed?

Floyd knew what is in store for him when he beat the mother of his children. So he should serve his time. He deserves no exception just because he is rich and famous.

Who the hell cares if he loses his talents on the ring? He deserves to be in his cell to give him time to think about what he did.

More importantly, his punishment will serve as a lesson for others not to do what he did.

Besides, the rest he gets by being in his cell longer than he wants everyday would probably be more beneficial for him. It will save his body from wear and tear. Whatever ?strength he may lose? while inactive from training can always be recovered when he returns to train again. He is a remarkable athlete, isn?t he?

Hey, it?s not like he is being jailed for 10 years. It?s a short freaking 3 months for goodness sake! For what he did, he should be staying in jail longer!

If he does not wish to be in his cell for 23 hours (for his own protection), would he sign document releasing Clark County and/or State of Nevada from any and all liabilities so he can be with the general population of the jail and kibitz with the other inmates?

Lastly, who cares if Cooney wants to enjoy more of seeing Floyd on top of the ring. He can always wait until Floyd pays his debt to society in full. Then he can watch him all he wants!
