Can Devon be lucky again tonight? By Anthony 'Duljoman' Andales PhilBoxing.com Sun, 26 Feb 2012 Bible Belt Down South, SC ? The last time Devon Alexander fought, it was against tough Argentinian Matthysee in light welterweight. In the eyes of ordinary people and ordinary writers, it looked like Matthysee punished the freaked bicep Alexander. But in the eyes of 2 of the 3 judges, Devon needed to get that win badly, to avoid two successive loses. Matthysee, during that fight, knocked down Devon in round 4, and continued the pressure ?til the last second of the fight. Luckily for Devon and unluckily for Matthysee. That was Matthysee?s 2 fights in a row that he got robbed. First against the talented but no heart Zab Judah, then that one against Devon Alexander. So tonight, Devon Alexander will fight another tough Argentinian in Marcos Maidana. Maidana will be best remembered when he knocked out the southpaw Victor Ortiz in round 6. Maidana is the reigning WBA junior welterweight champ. He hits very hard and he got two pistols with him in the fight, but he can?t pull the trigger on those guns because they?re only a tattoo. But one thing for sure Maidana doesn?t need those guns because his loaded fists will do the firing tonight. I think this will be an exciting fight, especially if you look at Devon?s physique. He looks unreal. I?ve never seen biceps like that before. Devon looks like he?s the stronger fighter between the two because of that sculpted body. But he be lucky the second time around? Hhmmm? I should say no. First, Devon hits softer that Paulie Mallignagi. Second, Devon didn?t improve. After he lost to Bradley, then the Matthysee fight, tsk tsk, Devon needs to fight at 130 lbs, not going up to 147lbs. Third, you can?t be lucky twice in row. Maidana will finish what Matthysee started, that is attacking the body and touch the cracked glassjaw of Alexander. So tonight, the 59% KO rate Devon Alexander and 90% KO rate Maidana will collide at Devon?s home turf of St. Louis, Missouri. It will be shown on HBO BAD airing at 10pm ET. They will fight as welterweights tonight. Both fighters fought at this weight before, but they became popular at 140lbs. So 147lbs is loaded right now, heading the pack are Mayweather & Pacquiao, Ortiz, Berto, Maidana, Alexander, Bradley?. Can Devon be lucky again tonight? I don?t think so. Maidana by a late knockout, rounds 9 or 10. TYPO ERROR: As I wrote yesterday about Glenn Donaire?s fight on March 16. Glenn feeds me all the informations via text. And I asked Glenn about Arvin?s lastname, the owner of Kennel Boxing Gym in San Leandro, CA. Glenn jokingly replied Arvin the chipmunks, and we were laughing cause I know it?s a joke. Unknowingly, I typed all the informations right away in the word pad. Then just copy paste you know whenever I need those inputs as I complete the story. I?m about to go out to watch Jeremy Lin, my homeboy Walt Kraft, aircraft inspector already outside waiting for me, the yellow cab was hunking? shoot I need to finish the story and sent to Sir dong Secuya the philboxing.com CEO? sorry Arvin, your last name is Jugarap, I worked with your cousin before at Lear corp, Jayruby Jugarap one the finest lady in MEPZ.
