BREAKING NEWS: BOBBY PACQUIAO SIGNS WITH TOP RANK!

PhilBoxing.com

Bobby Pacquiao’s management team which consists of his older and more illustrious brother Manny, Cebu kingmaker Wakee Salud, who has handled three former World Champions, and American manager Michael Koncz, announced today that Bobby Pacquiao has signed an exclusive Contract with Las Vegas based promotional Company, Top Rank.

The financial terms remain confidential. However, it was disclosed that under the agreement, Bobby is to participate in a minimum of 9 fights. The first fight is set to take place on June 10, 2006 when Bobby defends his WBC Continental Americas title against Kevin Kelley on the Miguel Cotto vs. Paulie Malignaggi pay per view card at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York.

“I am very happy and feel great about signing with Top Rank” Bobby said. “They gave me the chance to fight in my first P.P.V. when I fought Carlos Hernandez last October and I am very thankful. Top Rank is very generous and a very good promoter. I am really, really proud and happy to be one of their fighters”. Bobby added that “this is a great opportunity for me to show the world that there is another boxer named Pacquiao who can fight and is worth watching”.

Boxing sensation and older brother Manny indicated that “the fight on June 10 against Kevin Kelley and signing with Top Rank is a big break for Bobby. I have personally dealt with Top Rank on my last three fights and they treated me well and with great respect. Under the umbrella of Top Rank the management team can now look forward to focusing on more and bigger fights ahead for Bobby”.

Michael Koncz who is credited with the resurgence of Bobby’s career after his lackluster performance in February 2005 when he was knocked out in the 7th round by Rakkiatgym stated “signing with Top Rank is a golden opportunity for Bobby”. Koncz also indicated that, “Top Rank gave us the opportunity to fight Carlos Hernandez on a televised pay per view card with the verbal assurance if Bobby prevailed, he would be give another fight under their promotion. Top Rank is not only fulfilling there prior verbal agreement, they have gone beyond and further commitment to Bobby by providing a lucrative Promotional Contract. The management team is eager and looks forward to working with Bob Arum in the advancement of Bobby’s career”.

“This is a good deal and very good for Bobby” said Wakee Salud. “Top Rank is the biggest boxing Promotion company and known all over the world. I believe Bob Arum is an honest man and has promoted and guided a number of fighters to World Titles. Under this new agreement we anticipate great opportunities for Bobby in the near future and he will get great world wide television exposure with Top Rank”.
