Salud picks Viloria to beat Arce

Popular boxing manager Rex "Wakee" Salud, who has three world champions in his resume, said yesterday that should a fight be arranged between Fil-Am Brian Viloria and Mexican Jorge Arce, the Hawaii-raised star will have no trouble handling the lollipop-sucking naughty boy.
Salud, an associate of superstar Manny Pacquiao, was reacting to Arce's performance yesterday against ageing Rosendo Alvarez, whom he stopped in the sixth round of a scheduled 12-rounder.
"Arce looked too stationary out there. He was there to be hit. Brian will pepper him with shots," said Salud, who also noted that the over-the-hill Alvarez was even out-punching Arce in the earlier rounds.
It has been observed that WBC light-flyweight champ Viloria and Arce, who holds the interim WBC flyweight title, would ultimately fight in a mega-buck showdown down the road, although they seem to be headed on different weight categories.
While Viloria is entertaining thoughts of moving up into the flyweight category after one or two title defenses, Arce is himself planning to move up into the bigger superfly or bantamweight level, where he plans to take on WBA superfly champ Martin Castillo or IBF bantam king Rafael Marquez.
Arce, however, is not closing the door on someday fighting Viloria, adding that it's a fight that he surely would take.
