Six Sundays of Non-Stop World Class Boxing Action from SOLARtv and Solar Sports By Carlo Pamintuan PhilBoxing.com Wed, 24 Nov 2010 It started with Manny Pacquiao?s (52-3-2, 38 KOs) masterful performance over Antonio Margarito (38-7-0, 27 KOs). Then Sergio Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KOs) shocked the world by putting Paul ?The Punisher? Williams (39-2-0, 27 KOs) to sleep. Two big fights are history but four more Sundays of fistic fury are on schedule as SOLARtv and Solar Sports bring the hottest matches in boxing. On November 28, Juan Manuel Marquez (51-5-1, 37 KOs) will take on Michael Katsidis (27-2-0, 22 KOs) for the lightweight championship of the world. Expect to see a great battle of clashing styles as the counter-punching Marquez defends his titles against the ultra-aggressive Australian. On December 5, Drian Francisco?s (19-0-1, 15 KOs) fight versus Thailand?s Duangpetch Kokietgym (52-1-1, 21 KOs) will be aired. It will be Francisco?s first time fighting on foreign soil and a win over his Thai foe will earn him an interim title and a short at the regular world title currently being held by Hogo Cazares. Then after that, on December 12, it will be Amir Khan (23-1-0, 17 KOs) defending his junior welterweight title against the dangerous Marcos Rene Maidana (29-1-0, 27 KOs). Freddie Roach?s number two student will be taking another step towards the Top Ten Pound-For-Pound list as takes on the dangerous Argentinean. To cap of the six-week boxing marathon, SOLARtv and Solar Sports will be airing the match between Bernard ?The Executioner? Hopkins (51-5-1, 32 KOs) versus Jean Pascal (26-1-0, 16 KOs). Hopkins has been getting flak from Filipino fight fans for his for his racially charged comments against Pacquiao. He can talk the talk and in this fight, he?ll attempt to prove that he can still walk the walk. All fights will be airing both on SOLARtv and Solar Sports at 1.00 pm every Sunday with replays on Solar Sports at 7.00 pm Click here to view a list of other articles written by Carlo Pamintuan. |
