USA Boxing Earns Four Wins at 2026 Capri Boxing Cup PhilBoxing.com Mon, 27 Jul 2026 USA Boxing Secures Four Wins In Italy CAPRI, Italy (July 26, 2026) – USA Boxing traveled to Capri, Italy, for the 2026 Capri Boxing Cup, where the United States faced Italy in an eight-bout international duel. The Stars and Stripes went 4-4 in the international duel behind victories from Yahir Diaz-Martinez, Robby (Rahim) Gonzales, Kendra Samargis, and Malachi Georges on Saturday, July 25. Diaz-Martinez and Gonzales each earned RSC-I victories. Diaz-Martinez stopped Michele Baldassi in the 60-kilogram division, while Gonzales defeated Alfred Commey in the 80 kilogram division. Diaz-Martinez has now won six international bouts in 2026 while also capturing a bronze medal at the 2026 Gee Bee Boxing Tournament and a silver medal at the 2026 Copa America. Saturday marked Gonzales' return to competition after suffering an injury earlier this year at the 2026 Strandja Boxing Tournament in Bulgaria. Samargis added another win by points for Team USA over Melissa Gemini in the 75 kilogram division. The Idaho native now improves to 4-0 on the international stage in her career, after going 3-0 and winning gold at the 2026 Copa America event in Colombia. Team USA closed the duel on a high note as Malachi Georges won by points over World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2026 bronze medalist Chimé Dean Nwokedi in the 90-kilogram division. Georges entered the duel after winning silver at the 2026 Copa America, and Saturday's victory improved the New Jersey native to 7-2 internationally in 2026. Also representing Team USA on Saturday were Jennifer Lozano, Alyssa Mendoza, Jajaira Gonzalez, and Dustin Jimenez. All four boxers went the distance in three rounds of Olympic style boxing but came up short by points. Throughout the Capri Boxing Cup, the United States was led by USA Boxing National Technical Coach Zaur Antia, along with Elite High Performance assistant pool coaches Jay Nimo and Stephen Grand.
