USA Boxing Sends Eight Boxers to Italy for International Duel PhilBoxing.com Thu, 23 Jul 2026 Team USA Set for International Duel Against Italy in Capri COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 22, 2026) – Team USA is set to compete in Capri, Italy, this weekend at the 2026 USA vs Italy Duel. USA Boxing is excited to send eight boxers for this international duel against Italy, providing these athletes another opportunity to gain international experience this summer. The eight American boxers will face Italy on Saturday, July 25. Team USA's roster features four men and four women and will be led by National Technical Coach Zaur Antia, along with Elite High Performance assistant pool coaches Jay Nimo and Stephen Grand. As for Team USA’s boxers, the Women’s team will be represented by three 2024 Paris Olympians, including Jennifer Lozano (51 kilogram), Alyssa Mendoza (57 kilogram) and Jajaira Gonzalez (60 kilogram). Lozano enters the duel fresh off a dominant gold-medal performance at the 2026 Copa America in Colombia, where she posted a perfect 7-0 record. As for Mendoza, the Idaho native earned a bronze medal earlier this year at the 2026 Strandja Boxing Tournament, while Gonzalez returns to competition for the first time since 2025 after recovering from an injury. Rounding out the four women competing in Italy is another 2026 Copa America gold medalist, Kendra Samargis (75 kilograms). The Idaho native made her international debut in Colombia, posting a perfect 3-0 record, and will look to carry that momentum into Italy. On the men's side, Team USA's roster includes three High Performance Squad athletes and one Elite High Performance Team member. Leading the group is Robby “Rahim” Gonzales, who won gold at the 2021 World Championships. Gonzales returns to competition after suffering an injury earlier this year at the Strandja Boxing Tournament in Bulgaria. Joining Gonzales are three 2026 Copa America silver medalists, Yahir Diaz-Martinez (60 kilograms), Dustin Jimenez (65 kilograms), and Malachi Georges (90 kilograms). All three have earned multiple international medals, while Diaz-Martinez and Jimenez also claimed bronze medals earlier this year at the Gee Bee Tournament in Finland.
