TANADA-OCAMPO WBO ASIA PACIFIC YOUTH TITLE FIGHT ON RPN 9 ON SATURDAY

The WBO Asia Pacific Youth Championship super featherweight title fight between undefeated Allan Tanada and talented southpaw Jose Ocampo at the Arayata Sports Center in Tanza, Cavite will be telecast over RPN 9 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday on the top-rated weekly boxing show ?The Main Event.?
The fight was action-packed from the opening bell as both fighters slugged it out in a fight that had the fans cheering non-stop.
Despite the torrential rains there was a big crowd that enjoyed the entire fight card promoted by Sammy Gello-ani and sponsored by Tanduay, the No. 1 Rhum.
Well-known boxing man and TV analyst of ?In This Corner? Moy Lainez of the former Wild Card Gym of the late Rod Nazario which is home to Tanada who is currently managed by Nazario?s son Rommel Nazario, said the Tanada-Ocampo war was a sure candidate for the ?Fight of the Year? in the Philippines.
The main event highlighted a string of excellent fights in recent months which was a tribute to good matchmaking which appeared to be a problem in the past but in the face of public criticism has clearly improved with the Games and Amusements Board also playing a more active role in an effort to prevent mismatches.
