By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 12 Aug 2010
Longtime World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman has been honored by being inducted into the Galerias Plaza de las Estrellas in Mexico City.
The WBC president who has always been regarded as a friend of the Philippines and a help to Filipino boxers looking to make a name for themselves internationally, joined some 130 other inductees in the Galerias.
They include some of the most prominent and popular stars in show business, sports and art.
Sulaiman, like all the others inducted into the Galerias received a plaque which included a bronze handprint of his. The plaque will be installed on a special floor in the building.
One of the first to congratulate Suliaman on his well-deserved recognition was the founding secretary general of the WBC, the eminent Filipino lawyer-sportsman Rudy Salud who also headed the Ratings Committee of which Sulaiman was a member.
Salud noted that ?for all the shortcomings so often exaggerated, Don Jose has been an asset to the sport of boxing and been particularly helpful and fair to Filipino boxers. We congratulate him as the leader of the pre-eminent professional boxing organization in the world and more importantly as a dear and valued friend.?
