DOMINGO WANTS PEREZ, DARCHINYAN OR MONTIEL

PhilBoxing.com

The author was able to have a chat with WBO Oriental Bantamweight Champ Michael Domingo fresh from his second round TKO victory over Colombia?s Luis Melendez.

CYK:Congratulations on the very sensational win Champ!
Michael:Thanks Sir.

CYK: Sir ALA told us that Melendez was hospitalized for a possible broken rib. Do you think you were able to inflict that much damage on him? I have noticed the loud popping sound during your first liver punch in the first round.

Michael:You?re right sir I think it was the first body shot which did the greater damage. The second punch that threw him to the canvass was just a follow up. My fist was able to perfectly penetrate his right mid-section. I felt the force on my hands when the punch landed.

CYK: I noticed that your opponent was not throwing much punches. Why do you think was he reluctant in engaging?
Michael:I think he was trying to save his power and was waiting for the perfect timing within which he would unleash his power punches. But what I did was pressure him and never gave him the chance to hit me. I also thought he was intimidated by my aggression.

CYK: You looked very focused and inspired from the start of the first round. Was it the presence of Gorres that gave you such focus?
Michael:Yes sir. Butchoy (Gorres) was my inspiration in this fight. I know the damage made by Melendez on Z Gorres was never intentional but I still feel the need to convincingly beat him for the sake of our pride and honor. The fight was really dedicated to him.

CYK:I know this victory has improved your world ratings. If you were given the choice, who do you want to fight next?
Michael: I want a shot at Yohnny Perez, Vic Darchinyan, or Fernando Montiel. I know and I am sure I can beat any of these guys.

CYK:Nice choice. Do you think a fight with any of these guys can be arranged?
Michael:I believe in the negotiating capacity of my Manager and Promoter ALA Promotions. They can find ways in making great fights happen. The only factor which can hinder a fight with any of those fighters would be their being scared of fighting me. I know for a fact that Montiel and Darchinyan are scared of Filipino fighters. They seem to have this phobia of fighting us. Montiel just cherry picked Ciso Morales. Darchinyan was KOed by a Filipino and was beaten by Z Gorres in a fight which ended in a draw. So was Montiel. If I am given the chance to fight these guys, there will be no more controversial decisions because I would gladly knock them out.

CYK:I agree with you champ. You are one of the most feared boxers right now. Now let us just leave the negotiations to Sir Mike and Sir ALA. Right now I am wishing you the best of luck and just keep on training like there?s no tomorrow. Congratulations once again on the sensational victory!
Michael:Thanks sir.
