BOBBY FACES FAMOSO, NOT RAHEEM, IN REMATCH
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 12 Oct 2005
Aiming to settle an unfinished business, Bobby Pacquiao is set to trade leathers once again with El Salvadoran Carlos "Famoso" Hernandez either in December or January.
Pacquiao had beaten Hernandez on a split decision verdict last Sunday, a win which was considered a fluke by those close to Hernandez' camp.
"Promoter Bob Arum has already told us that he wants Bobby and Famoso to do it again in December, although the financial aspect has not yet been discussed yet," revealed Bobby's co-manager Rex "Wakee" Salud, in a call made to this writer yesterday. Salud co-manages Bobby with pound-for-pound star Manny Pacquiao.
Earlier, Salud announced that Bobby was also being considered to fight Erik Morales conqueror Zahir Raheem.
Salud, however, indicated they might turn down the December proposal, and would rather have the duo duke it out again in January "to give Bobby (and Hernandez) enough time to rest."
Salud and Bobby Pacquiao are set to return to the country on Friday.
Meanwhile, in the same interview, Salud informed that renowned boxing trainer is set to arrive in the country in the second week of November to personally supervise Manny Pacquiao's preparation for Morales.
"They might train in Davao, but I will try to convince them to train in Cebu because we have better facilities and more sparring partners for Manny," Salud said, referring to Cebu's famous ALA Gym and his own gym.
