PhilBoxing.com

Sta.Ynes, CA:- Sergiy Dzinziruk, the WBO Junior Middleweight champion from Ukraine who now fights out of Los Angeles last Friday night had a very successful US debut via ShowBox, The New Generation. The fight was held at the cozy Chumash Casino in this bucolic town.

Dzinziruk stopped Daniel Dawson who fights out of the Hollywood gym of Austalian ex-heavyweight contender Justin Fortune. The lost was only the second time Dawson had come out of the short end of a fight.

Referee Jose Cobian mercifully waved the fight off at 2:12 of round ten giving Dzinzinuk a TKO victory.

It was the 5th time the Ukrainian has successfully defended his title.

The long lay off did not seem to matter to Dzinziruk but it took him time to finally figure out Dawson. In the end, he dominated and the stoppage was something that did not surprise the crowd.

Dzinziruk was simply the better man. Win the win Dzinziruk improved to 36-0-0, 24K0) while Dawson dropped to 34-2,0-24KO.

In the supporting main event, Paris Vernon ( 21-0-0, 14KO) won a very unpopular split decision over

a very tough opponent, Juan Santiago (12-4-1,7KO). The fight was a constant exchange between the two fighters and the results could have easily gone the other way. The judges scores were 76-75 and 76-75 for Vernon and 77-74 for Santiago. Vernon as assessed a point in round one for a very low blow by referee David Mendoza.
