ROBERT GUERRERO STOPS ARRIETA IN EIGHT

PhilBoxing.com

Las Vegas, NV:- Golden Boy promotions held the ?appetizer? fight tonight at the Tropicana Hotel Casino Resort just across from the MGM Grand on Las Vegas Boulevard.

The fight featured ex-world champion, Robert Guerrero of Gilroy, California against a relative veteran from Santa Rosa, Argentina, Roberto Arrieta.

From the get on it appeared that Arrieta was not capable of matching the speed, skills and power of the Californian.

Guerrero dropped Arrieta in round two and again in round three. From then he methodically broke down the South American veteran until he caught him with a clean right-left combination that put him on his knees.

Referee Jay Nady saw enough and he rushed in to save Arrieta from further punishment.

A former Pacquiao foe, Oscar ?Chololo? Larios was at the corner of Arrieta. But his support for Arrieta did no good as the South American was TKO?d at 29 seconds of round 8th.

With the win Guerrero improved to 26-1-1, 18KO?s while Arrieta dropped to 35-16-4, 16KO.

In the supporting main event, newcomer Frankie Gomes of Los Angeles, a former standout amateur fighter improved his record to 2-0-0, 2KO by stopping Ricardo Malfavon at 1:06 of round 2. The fight was stopped after Malfavon was dropped by Gomez.

In the curtain raiser, Abner Cotto (yes he belongs to the Cotto clan from Caguas, Puerto Rico) won a four round unanimous decision over Juan Sandoval of San Bernardino, CA.

Cotto remained undefeated at 7-0-0, 4 KO?s while Sandoval dropped to 1-3-0, 1KO

The results of the other fights are as follows:
