Is Manny Pacquiao`s eye damaged?
By Dezzie Lightbulb PhilBoxing.com Mon, 15 Mar 2010

I think that Manny Pacquiao`s performance against Joshua Clottey bears all the hallmarks of the remarkable champion he is. He did what he had to do to win the fight, while giving Clottey enough chances to prove that he was a worthy contestant. Once again he proved himself to be a true champion and a real gentleman. But has being a nice guy cost Pacquiao something irreplaceable?
I may be wrong, but I believe that Pacquiao suffered an injury to his right eye in his fight against Clottey. When Pacquiao TKO`d Cotto he seemed happy and relaxed in the post-fight interviews. But we now know that one of his eardrums was severely damaged in that fight.
Think about it! He was completely deaf in one ear, it must have hurt like hell and bothered him severely, yet there he was smiling for the cameras, and chatting away as usual. I found him to be a lot more strained and troubled at the end of his most recent fight. I was surprised that he did not hug Clottey right at the final bell, as he had done at the start of the twelfth. It was then that I noticed that his right eye looked injured. I don`t mean the mouse he sported under his eye, I mean the inside of the eye itself. There seems to be a kind of a membrane, similar to a cataract, blocking his view.
Displaced retina? Let`s hope not. I would hate to think that Manny`s generosity had cost him something irreplaceable. Manny allowed Joshua a few shots perhaps, as he often says, because he “wanted to put on the best show for the fans”.
I hope I am wrong, but don`t be surprised to learn that Manny has to undergo eye surgery.
