KONCZ ASSURES GORRES, PACQUIAO WILL DELIVER ON HIS PROMISE OF HELP

PhilBoxing.com

“Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz has assured Z “The Dream” Gorres that Pacquiao will deliver on his promise of financial help for the stylish southpaw whose promising career was cut short by a tragic accident in a winning effort against rugged Luis Melendez last November after which he underwent brain surgery.

We checked with Koncz after the wife of Gorres, Datches, was quoted as telling ABS-CBN news that they had not received any of the promised help from Pacquiao as yet.

Koncz assured us “we are giving it a little time to make sure that we got the most that c ame in from Top Rank . No rush. When we come back after the fight (against Joshua Clottey on March 13) we’ll personally take it to Cebu and give it to him.”

Koncz said they were concerned over the latest setback suffered by Gorres who was operated on from a problem in his throat which affected his breathing and caused constant coughing and expressed relief that he was recovering well.

The trusted adviser of the pound-for-pound king said “when we come back Manny will go over there and see him. We’ll bring the money. I’ll call Top Rank and see what came in.”

Respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer said that when specialist Dr. Gary Rivera who is an avid boxing fan himself examined Gorres he decided to operate on him immediately because Gorres was having trouble breathing.

Gorres suffered his career-ending injury which necessitated brain surgery when he was on the threshold of a world title rematch with Fernando Montiel.
