ARCE KOs LUMACAD IN THIRD
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Sun, 28 Jun 2009
In what was shaping up to be a good boxing match pitting the stylish upstart Fernando Lumacad of the Philippines and ring veteran and highly popular slugger Jorge 'El Travieso' Arce of Mexico ended abruptly at 35 seconds of the third round when Arce landed an overhand right to Lumacad's jaw that sent the General Santos native to the canvas and unable to beat the count at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey moments ago.
Lumacad was boxing well in the first two rounds that saw Arce wasn't able to force his way and Lumacad himself landing effective jabs and counters.
One punch however changed everything as Arce made a strong statement that he is here to stay after being badly beaten in his last fight by the cocky Vic Darchinyan of Australia.
Lumacad absorbed the 2nd loss of his career and is now 19-2-2 (7KOS) while Arce upped his 14-year professional record to 52-5-1 (40KOs).
