'AHAS' NIETES' NEXT FIGHT WILL BE IN THE U.S.

Cebu City -- WBO minimumweight champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes who successfully defended his title last Saturday night at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino here against Eddy Castro of Nicaragua via 2nd round knockout, is poised to campaign in the United States starting on his next fight, his manager Michael Aldeguer has revealed.
Aldeguer said they are waiting for the result of the WBO interim title fight between first-ranked Daniel Reyes of Columbia and fourth-ranked Luis Alberto Lazarte of Argentina scheduled on Sep. 26 in Buenos Aires where the winner will become Nietes' mandatory.
"We are hoping to bring that fight (Nietes vs winner of Reyes-Lazarte) in the U.S. prefererably under the huge De La Hoya-Pacquiao fight on Dec. 6. Another possibility is for Nietes to fight the day before the big fight as they usually organize a big card Friday night before the big event. This is the thing that we are going to discuss with Golden Boy and hopefully we can arrange something good for Donnie," Aldeguer told PhilBoxing.com.
The unassuming Nietes, who is currently in his hometown in Negros, has impressed a lot of people the way he had dismantled his foe with poise and confidence last Saturday and according to Aldeguer, "it's high-time to showcase his skills to the world."
