PhilBoxing.com

The Cebuana Lhuillier Tennis Team is poised to make another historic run as it prepares to defend its championship title at the prestigious Penang Sports Club International Invitational Team Tennis tournament. Set to take place from February 21 to 23, 2025, in Penang, Malaysia, the competition will feature 24 elite teams from across Southeast Asia, each vying for dominance in the Men’s Division.

With a track record of excellence and a commitment to the sport, Cebuana Lhuillier is fielding a well-balanced and highly skilled lineup across multiple age divisions:

● 60s Division: Jackie Tomacruz, Henry Escalante, and Adelo Ruado
● 50s Division: Jean Henri Lhuillier, Derrick Santos, and Gilbert Estrada
● 40s Division: Toto Joven, Joseph Arcilla, and Gee Abacan

Leading the charge is Cebuana Lhuillier President and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier, an unwavering supporter of Philippine tennis and the President of Unified Tennis Philippines (UTP). He is joined by Team Captain Gerard Maronilla, who brings extensive experience and strategic leadership to the squad.

"We are thrilled to once again compete on this international stage and defend our title against some of the best teams in the region," said Jean Henri Lhuillier. "This tournament is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players, and I am confident that we will continue to showcase the strength and talent of Filipino athletes."

The Cebuana Lhuillier Tennis Team has been training rigorously in preparation for the tournament, fine-tuning their techniques and strengthening their team dynamics. With a mix of seasoned veterans and formidable competitors, the squad is expected to put up a stellar performance.

Beyond the quest for another championship, the team’s participation in this international event reinforces Cebuana Lhuillier’s longstanding commitment to the growth of tennis in the Philippines. The company continues to be a driving force in nurturing local talent and providing Filipino players with opportunities to compete at the highest levels.

As the tournament approaches, anticipation builds for an exciting series of matches that will test the resilience, skill, and determination of Cebuana Lhuillier’s team. With their eyes set on another victory, they stand ready to once again make their mark on the international stage and bring pride to the Philippines.-Marlon Bernardino -
