New WBC Australasian Super Flyweight Champion Brian Agina Claims Victory via UD in Melbourne
PhilBoxing.com Sun, 15 Dec 2024

Brian Agina, the undefeated Super Flyweight, secured a unanimous decision (UD) win over 10 rounds (10x3) against a resilient Muhammed Asif at the Ultimate Promotions event in Melbourne. The bout showcased high-level technical boxing from both fighters, but it was Agina's power shots that made the difference.
Agina came close to ending the fight in the 4th round when he landed a massive right hand, leaving Asif visibly hurt. Despite this, Asif, an Olympian and former Commonwealth Games representative, displayed incredible determination to finish the fight on his feet.
With this victory, Brian Agina now holds the prestigious WBC Australasian title, putting him in contention for a challenge against the WBC OPBF champion, Giemel Magramo of the Philippines.
"Brian Agina was very impressive tonight. Winning the WBC Australasian title is a major step forward for him," said Australian Hall of Fame promoter Peter Maniatis. "This regional WBC title positions Brian to challenge Giemel Magramo. We're willing to travel to the Philippines to make the fight happen, or we could host Magramo in Australia."
Trainer Chris Folima and assistant coach Ricky Leonard have built a formidable team around Agina, who is now brimming with confidence after defeating a fighter of Asif's caliber.
"If we can’t secure the fight with Magramo, the next option would be Jayr Raquinel. He’s another excellent boxer, and testing Brian Agina against him in 2025 would be a great step forward," added Maniatis.
