MEET WBC LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION DAVID DIAZ PhilBoxing.com Wed, 18 Jun 2008 Recent Select Columns on the Human Roadblock Between Manny Pacquiao and History LAS VEGAS, NEV -- In less than two weeks, World Boxing Council lightweight champion DAVID DIAZ (34-1-1, 17 KOs), from Chicago, defends his world title against boxing's No. 1 pound for pound fighter and reigning WBC super featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao (46-3-2, 34 KOs), from General Santos City, Philippines. Pacquiao will be attempting to become the first Asian fighter to win four sanctioned world titles in as many different divisions. But Diaz is no stranger to pressure or to victory. He defeated Zab Judah twice to earn a berth on the 1996 U.S. Olympic team and successfully defended his world title last year against three-division world champion Erik Morales, thanks to a Herculean effort down the stretch. Diaz has vowed that Pacquiao will walk out of the ring at Mandalay Bay on June 28 the same way he walks into it...as super featherweight champion and nothing more. In preparation for Tuesday's (June 17) media conference call hosted by Diaz and trainer Jim Strickland, below, please find links to recent select columns on David and David's own weekly blog diary running exclusively in the Chicago Sun-Times.
