SOSA PREDICTS HARD BATTLE AGAINST RUBILLAR
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 17 Jun 2008
 Edgar Sosa.
World Boxing Council light flyweight champion Edgar Sosa predicts that his planned September title defense against Filipino southpaw Juanito Rubillar would ?without doubt be a hard battle.?
Sosa has a record of 32-5 with 17 knockouts. In an interview with Mexican boxing writer Ernesto Castellanos, Sosa said that after giving himself ?some good holidays? following his impressive eighth round TKO win over Japan?s Takashi Kunishige in his title defense last June 14 he would train for two months for the Rubillar title defense.
Rubillar earned the mandatory title shot with a hard-fought split decision win over former world champion Omar Nino in a title eliminator on the same card where Sosa retained his crown.
With the win Rubillar improved his record to 46-10-7 with 22 knockouts.
The Mexican said he plans to move up in weight and go after the IBF champion Ulises Solis who beat him twice before. Sosa said that in his first clash with Solis who won by a split decision he was ?sure they stole it from me.? That was on May 5, 2001. In their rematch on September 13, 2003 which Solis won by a majority decision, Sosa, Solis was ?dedicated to hit and run and never faced me.?
Solis himself defends his title against Glenn Donaire (17-3-1, 9 KO?s) on July 12. Glenn who is the older brother of reigning IBF/IBO flyweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino? Flash Donaire continues to work out with Nonito who says he is looking good and has a great chance of winning the title.
