CONDES NOT BOTHERED BY JETLAG!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sat, 07 Jun 2008
In his first trip to the United States, IBF minifly king Florante "The Little Pacquiao" Condes remains in top shape and it seems jet lag will not come into play as he continues to train for his June 14 defense against unbeaten Raul Garcia.
"He is looking good and surprisingly not bothered by jet lag. In fact tanong niya kay Sammy, 'ano yun jet lag'?" says Los Angeles-based Dr. Ed De la Vega, who fitted Condes with a custom-made mouthguard yesterday to be used for his fight.
De la Vega added that Condes, who continues his training at the Wild Card Gym following his long training at the famed ALA Gym, has been sleeping "well on time and wakes up early to jog around."
"Sarap daw tumakbo kasi medyo malamig then it heats up as the sun comes up. I think he is enjoying his stay here and his mental condition is very good...all good signs that he will put up a good fight to keep his crown," adds De la Vega.
Meanwhile, over at the Mexican front, Ruben Casanova reports that Garcia did five weeks of intense preparation in the Mexican capital.
?I am anxious to return to La Paz, and go up the ring," Garcia was quoted as saying moments before plunging into training at the Pancho Rosales gym.
Trained by Leo Camacho, Garcia will arrive at the fight venue with some 145 rounds of sparring including against his brother Ramon and other flyweight and superflyweight fighters.
