 Panamanian trainer "Tolete" Arroyo passes away By Gabriel F. Cordero PhilBoxing.com Sat, 12 Aug 2023  Panamanian boxing has received with resignation the death this Friday of former boxer and trainer Francisco "Tolete" Arroyo, 60, due to a prolonged terminal illness. "Tolete" Arroyo was the leader of the Panamanian stable "Los Rockeros" and managed to be in several world championship bouts between 2000 and 2016 mainly against Nehomar Cermeño, Luis "El Nica" Concepción, Vicente "El Loco" Mosquera and Celestino "Pelenchín" Caballero among many others. Arroyo was a professional boxer between 1982 and 1993. His record was 15 wins (6 knockouts), 8 losses and one draw, managing to appear in England, Italy, Poland, Ireland, Colombia and Venezuela. Arroyo was part of the PanaProm stable of the Panamanian Argentine Luis Spada, As head trainer of the boxing team "Los Rockeros" he was in countries like: United States, England, Canada, Mexico, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Argentina, France, Ecuador, Trinidad and Tobago, Poland, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Germany, Philippines , Nicaragua and Costa Rica among many others. There are no records of another Panamanian trainer who has been able to be present in so many countries in a world championship match or normal match. The promotions and events company of the Isthmus led by Don Rogelio Espiño held nearly 130 events in Panama from the year 2000 to 2020 and was a main ally of the World Boxing Association when this organization was in Panama City obtaining opportunities for its boxers in the different continents.
