'Kid Terrible' Morales Hires Trainer Benny Dela Pe?a PhilBoxing.com Fri, 23 May 2008 WBO ORIENTAL / YOUTH champion Ciso "Kid Terrible" is back in the gym for his next highly anticipated match against two-time WBO regional challenger and Tanzanian spoiler, Hussein Pazzi who already racked up 28 fights with 17wins and only 8 defeats. Promoter Sammy Gello-ani has confirmed that July will be the month that Morales will take on Tanzanian Hussein Pazzi, stating "we want to keep him busy testing him each time as we go. Our goal is to eventually get that opportunity for the world title set in sight sometime next year held by Ponce De Leon. By the time Morales will be primed and polished." Just this past April 6th on the "Invasion" card at the Araneta Coliseum, Morales displayed an impressive win over Korean Yoo-Shin Kim defending his Jr. Featherweight WBO Oriental title that impressed even Vice President for Golden Boy Eric Gomez and GBP COO David Itskowitch. They have indicated that Morales will fit perfectly in their Golden Boy Promotions, Solo Boxeo Telefutura Events. "We would like to showcase him there and get him some exposure," explained Gomez. Gello-ani informed also that Morales' handlers have already heightened their training at RP contenders Gym in Cagayan De Oro by hiring highly regarded trainer Bernardo "Benny" Dela Pena who was known for training former world champion Manny Melchor, Morris East, Jess Maca and other respected fighters as well. Kenneth Rontal informed that he had recently contacted "Benny" Dela Pena just after the April 6, 2008 Invasion. "We asked him if he was interested to train Morales, having to know Benny for years since Jess Maca's OPBF reign, we believe that Benny would fit perfectly with Morales and an asset to sculpturing his talent," said the young boxing manager. "Magaling na bata he has a lot of potential, give him one year to mature and he will be hard to beat" said Benny, who saw Morales' fight on the "Invasion" card recently. Meanwhile, Morales' managers and his promoter Sammy Gello-ani are taking it one step at a time, "Gello-ani will set our schedules here in the Philippines and whenever Golden Boy Promotions calls upon us fighting in the States we will be prepared and ready to go," Rontal stated. |
