On August 4 was whittled to the two who battle for the title THIS FRIDAY November 4: Kendo Castañeda (19-5, 9 KOs) of San Antonio, Texas vs. Antonio “Toño” Moran (28-5-1, 19 KOs) of Mexico City, Mexico In the August 4 semi-finals, Kendo "Tremendous" Castaneda beat Joseph Fernandez in what Paulie Malignaggi called a Fight of the Year candidate; and Antonio Moran won by virtual shutout against Michael Dutchover. “Being in the tournament has been a good opportunity to rise as a fighter,” said Moran. “Being able to qualify and win to reach the final has been an awesome experience. It has kept me training practically all year. I have been preparing very well and that has made me ready for any moment. I think that Castaneda is a fighter who comes forward and is aggressive, so you must box him. He's going to come in with his same fighting style and he's going to try and pick me up at close range, but I'll handle it. In the first four rounds I will look for the knockout, but if I don't get it, I will outbox him. I'm going to do the fight my way, connecting with quick combinations and moving around the ring. “I’m always ready to fight, so I actually do not vision this as my last chance,” said Castaneda regarding being in the tournament. “There has been some pressure to win to move on, but it’s been so much fun more than anything. Moran thinks he will knock me out in 5? 😂🤣😂 I think nothing of Moran, esta pendejo, but it will be a Mexican war for as long as it lasts, and I am ready for 32 rounds. Moran will be running into a brick wall and eventually he falls. The referee stops it, or his corner stops it.” In the May 20 quarters, former WBO Latino and WBA Fedecentro Welterweight Champion Moran beat Jeffrey Torres (10-2, 6 KOs) via unanimous decision, while “West Texas Warrior” Dutchover defeated Clarence Booth (21-5, 13 KOs) by split decision. In the other quarters, Castañeda scored a first-round knockout victory over Sonny Frederickson (21-6, 14 KOs), while Fernandez upset Zhiming Wang (11-4, 3 KOs) via unanimous decision. A ProBox TV monthly subscription is $1.99. ProBox TV was founded by Roy Jones Jr., Juan Manuel Marquez, Antonio Tarver, Paulie Malignaggi and Garry Jonas. Miguel Cotto recently joined the team. As always, the ‘Big 4’ will be calling the action from ringside. For more info on this tournament, click here https://proboxtv.com/140-lbs-tournament/en |
