PhilBoxing.com Fri, 28 Oct 2022

The 2-time world champion Kenia Enriquez (24-1, 10KO) hit the scales at 110.9lbs for her upcoming flyweight fight vs Nora Cardoza (16-9-2, 7KO), who also tipped the scales at the exact weight, this Friday night at the Grand Hotel in Tijuana, Mexico. The fight is presented by TM Boxing association with BxStrs and Alpha Boxing.
The scheduled eight-round bout will be the semi-main event televised by ESPN Knockout in Latin America and Canela.TV in the United States.
After more than a two-year hiatus, Enriquez of Tijuana, Mexico, came back with a bang this past May knockout of Gabriela Sanchez in the tenth and last round in her first fight back at flyweight since 2016.
“I am more than ready for this fight, I’m ranked #1 by the WBC, WBA and IBF at flyweight but before I can think about another world title, I have to get past Cardoza,” Enriquez stated as soon as making weight. “Cardoza is experienced and she has only been stopped once so I am looking to be the second.”
Cardoza of Victoria de Durango, Mexico is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision over Itzel Reyes at the end of September. In her 27-bout career she has challenged for the WBC and WBA atom weight titles as well as the WBA light flyweight title.
“I want Marlen Esparza next; she has two titles so she’s done half the world for me,” Enriquez said with a smile. “I respect Cardoza but I have to make a statement with this fight.”
