PHILIPPINES’ STARS HEADING FOR VIETNAM PhilBoxing.com Wed, 26 Oct 2022 The Grand Ho Tram Strip are planning an end of year celebration like no other – and are going all out by showcasing promising Vietnam fighters in the ring with top boxers from around the world! They plan to stage an amazing 4 title fights, with boxers from Vietnam, South Korea, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand competing for major prizes. The Philippines contingent plan to arrive early, and will train at the famous VSP Boxing Gym in Ho Chi Minh City prior to their trip to Ho Tram. The group includes the biggest names in Philippines boxing, with their team leader being the phenomenal Charly Suarez. This is a fighter that is a 3x SEA Games gold medal winner, a 2016 Olympian, and since going pro, is unbeaten in 13 bouts. He is far and away the best boxer that the Philippines has produced, and is arguably the most technical in the whole of Asia. Suarez will fight for the IBF Asia title. Charly Suarez is unquestionably the greatest fighter ever to step foot into Vietnam! Arnel Baconaje has 15 wins, and the man dubbed “The Silence” has genuine knockout power. He will contest the main event against Vietnam’s very own Dinh Hong Quan. The Cocky Buffalo boxer will be making his second defense of his IBF Lightweight crown, and he has chosen a top tier opponent in Baconaje. Mark John Yap has scored 31 wins, and is one of the best internationally performed Pinoy boxers in recent years. Prior to the pandemic, the Japan based Yap tore some of that country’s best fighters to shreds, picking up 3 OPBF titles in the process. It is a rare treat to see a boxer of his calibre in Vietnam. Jetro Pabustan is nicknamed the “Silent Operator” and with good reason, he is stealthy and hurtful. He has amassed 31 professional wins in his career, and was recently controversially edged in the United States against one of their top prospects. Last but not least is “The Wolverine” JonJon Estrada. This boxer has gained a cult like status in his homeland for his exciting stalking fight style, and for his dislike of the judges. Most JonJon Estrada fights don’t require the services of the scorers, because in 15 wins, Estrada has scored an intimidating 14 by way of knockout ! The Wolverine is compelling viewing!! Fight card announcements will be coming soon, with information about the availability of tickets and pricing to follow. This will be an iconic event, where Vietnam boxers will see action in 5 of the 8 bouts. So get behind your Vietnam stars, and we will see you at The Grand Ho Tram Strip on Saturday 10th December – please dress to impress! |
