Hector Luis Garcia to Tank “Come fight the real Garcia and not the Tik Tok star Ryan PhilBoxing.com Sat, 27 Aug 2022 The 2016 Olympian burst onto the scene in February when he defeated the then unbeaten Chris Colbert in dominant fashion in Las Vegas. He was listed as high as a 50-1 underdog by some sportsbooks. He followed up that performance with another impressive outing on August 20th against veteran world champion Roger Gutierrez in Hollywood, Florida. With the victory he captured the WBA super featherweight title. Garcia is very proud of his accomplishments but will not rest on his laurels. He has sights set firmly on three-division champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis and he is willing to fight him at either 130 or 135 pounds. "I wanted to keep aiming for the top and after beating Colbert and Gutierrez I want the biggest challenge out there, Tank Davis," said Garcia. "I don't care what weight we fight at. I will move up to 135 to fight for his title or we can meet at 130 and fight for my title and his title and make it an even bigger fight." Davis successfully defended his WBA lightweight world title in May with a crushing knockout of Rolando Romero. Garcia understands the danger that Davis presents and looks forward to rising to the challenge. Davis has mentioned potentially fighting Ryan Garcia but at this point in his career, Ryan is more proven as a social media star than as a boxer. “Ryan Garcia is soft as butter. He couldn’t walk down the street in my neighborhood in the Dominican Republic. Tank, you should want to fight a real man who is like yourself, a street dog. I’m right here. Come see the real Garcia who’s a real man and not just some Tik Tok star,” said Garcia. "Tank is a dangerous fighter but I welcome the challenge. I have a good frame for 130 pounds and I think I will be just as good at 135. I want to fight the best. I have beaten two of the top guys at 130 now I want the big names at 135 and who is bigger Davis?" |
