Lorenzo, Ricafrente lead Marinduque chess entries

MANILA---Arena Grand Master Kimuel Aaron Lorenzo and Marinduque's top player Engr Joseph Ricafrente lead the participants for the 2nd Marinduque Rapid Chess Tournament that gets going on August 20 at the Boac Covered Court, Boac, Marinduque.
Other entries from Laguna are Richie Jocson, Ck Domalanta, Gilbert Rivera and Jeff Domalanta.
Also seeing action in this event organized by Boac Knight Chess Club in coordination with Marinduque Sports Office and sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines are local bets Roylan Frias, Sherwin Red, Toche P. Quijano, Mark Vincent Manalo, Christian Jake V. Sace, Richard Pelaez, Josue R. Saet Jr., Aizelle Ricafrente and Myline Rementilla.
No less than Asia's First Grandmaster Eugene Torre and Boac Knight Chess Club President Engr. Lauro Bautista will do the traditional ceremonial moves along with Philippine Executive Chess Association President Dr. Fred Paez.
The tournament offers P5,000 to the open champion, P3,000 to the runner-up, P2,000 to the third-placer, P1,000 to the fourth placer and P700 for the fifth-placer. Category winners in the lady, senior and junior will get P700 each.
Meanwhile, the first, second, third, fourth and fifth placers in the kiddies, will likewise to receive P2,000, P1,500, P1,000, P700 and P500, respectively.
Top lady in the kiddies bracket as well the top under 12, top under 10 and top under 8, will earn P500 each. Registration fee is pegged at P200 for the open while free for the kiddies.- Marlon Bernardino-
