SULAIMAN SAYS CONCEPCION LOOKED GOOD
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 29 Apr 2008

World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman says Bernabe Concepcion "really looked very, very good" in his second round TKO over 2004 US Olympic boxing team alternate Torrence Daniels in Quartero, Mexico on Sunday morning Manila Time.
In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today from his home in Mexico City, Sulaiman who was at ringside for the fights said the North American Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion was "very strong" and would definitely move up in the WBC ratings.
Sulaiman?s son Mauricio, the secretary general of the WBC, put the championship belt around Concepcion?s waist as Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, manager Aljoe Jaro and Manny Pacquiao?s lawyer Franklin "Jeng" Gacal looked on, all smiles. Canadian Michael Koncz who reportedly has a business interest in Concepcion along with Aljoe Jaro was seen removing the tape from the champion?s hands after the fight.
Concepcion is currently ranked No. 7 behind former WBC bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzales who is rated No. 6 in the 122 pound division where Israel Vasquez is champion.
At the same time Sulaiman confirmed that the WBC had granted light flyweight Juanito Rubillar who faces former world champion Omar Nino in a final title eliminator in June to fight a Thai identified as Kriangkaroi Kaewnongsamet on May 3 in Davao in a tune-up fight.
Sulaiman said the WBC approved the fight against the Thai because of a four to six week gap before the title eliminator but added that the WBC "accepted on condition that the fighter (Rubillar) does not get injured" because that may mean a postponement of the June title eliminator.
