George Acosta vs. Isaac Avelar Headlines Thompson Card July 22 in Ontario

PhilBoxing.com

ONTARIO, CA (July 7, 2022) – Eager to get back in the ring, George "El YuYu" Acosta (12-1, 1 KO), of Whittier, California, will face Isaac "Canelito" Avelar (16-4, 10 KOs) of Aguascalientes, Mexico, on July 22, 2022. Acosta vs. Avelar, an 8-round main event bout in the super featherweight division, will headline Thompson Boxing’s "New Blood" series.

This event will take place at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, CA. Doors open at 6:30 pm PT with the first fight starting at 8:00 pm PT. Tickets are priced at $50, $75, and $100, are available for purchase by calling 714-935-0900.

Acosta, who was set to fight on the past Thompson Boxing card last June, saw unforeseen circumstances have his fight canceled at the last minute. That turned into a blessing in disguise as Acosta will now headline this event and doing so at a new 130 lbs. weight class, where he feels more comfortable at.

“I was heartbroken to not fight last month, but I told myself everything happens for a reason, I got to be a part of the broadcast team on that fight card, and now I am the main event,” said Acosta. “I want to thank Thompson Boxing for believing in me. I'm expecting a grueling, tough test, and I'm ready to show everyone that I can be a world champion in this weight class. With a few more good performances, I believe I'll be in the mix against anyone."

In the 8-round middleweight co-feature, Richard "Cool Breeze" Brewart Jr. (12-0, 4 KO), of Rancho Cucamonga, California, will face Ramon "Niño de Oro" Ayala (25-6, 13 KOs) of Mexico City, Mexico.

“I am glad to be back, and I am ready to put the division on notice,” stated Brewart Jr. “I have greatly improved since I last fought, and fans can expect a spectacular victory. Fighting close to home is exciting because all my family, friends and fans can watch it live."

In addition to what should another scintillating night of boxing, Thompson Boxing Promotions is happy to announce its newest corporate partnership with HUSTLER Casino for all of Thompson's Southern California 2022 scheduled events.
