ALLEGED BOBBY BOSTICK PARTNER NAME DROPS By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sat, 26 Apr 2008 An alleged intermediary and partner of promoter Bobby Bostick whose wife supposedly works in the Office of the President at Malacanang is insisting that the aunt of IBF minimum weight champion Florante Condes brings him along to a meeting with Bostick without the Condes lawyer, Atty. Edgar Padernal. Bostick, his partner Cesar Trevino and legal counsel Steven Bessette arrived in Manila on Thursday night in a reported effort to settle the problems surrounding Condes? promotional contract. Viva Sports/Manila Standard tried to contact Bostick but our call was passed on to the lawyer who would only say that they were in ?a series of meetings all day? and indicated they would remain in Manila until next week. Ms. Loy Valencia disclosed that the so-called intermediary identified as a certain Lopez who is reportedly a promotional partner of Bostick and is a foreigner has been communicating with Condes? guardians and putting pressure on them. However, Ms. Valencia has made it clear she will not meet with the Bostick people without Atty. Padernal. Ms. Valencia said Lopez was ?insisting that I meet with him (Bostick) because I am the aunt and the close friend of Florante and he wants to talk to me because its very important and he doesn?t want to talk to us with Atty. Padernal.? She said the proposal was to meet at lunchtime at the Hyatt Hotel but that Lopez said they ?had to bring Florante? who is currently training at the ALA Gym in Cebu and would not disrupt his preparation for his mandatory title defense against Raul ?Rayito? Garcia in La Paz, Mexico in June. Lopez even told Ms. Alencia ?they were going to see? President Arroyo. Condes? aunt said she was ?worried that they would go to Cebu? and disturb Condes in training. Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today learned that the Bostick group wanted Condes to call off his title defense against Garcia, relinquish the title and fight former champion Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia from whom Condes won the title last July 7, in a non-title fight in Manila. The Condes camp said they will never agree to vacating the title or incurring the ire of the International Boxing Federation which has treated Condes fairly. Besides, they said Condes would never be able to face his countrymen if he does that. It would be a shame. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ronnie Nathanielsz. |
