Kasparov Foundation second in 2022 SGChessFestival Team Tournament

MANILA---The Kasparov Foundation wound up second overall in the team competition of the prestigious 2022 SGChessFestival Team Tournament held recently at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore.
Fide Master David Elorta outlasted Tze Shyan Evin Sung in board 2 to power the Kasparov Foundation to a 2-2 deadlock over Bigshots in the seventh and final round.
Grandmaster Darwin Laylo drew with Yen-Hsiu Elliot Wong in board 1 while Jayson Jacobo Tiburcio split the point with Yan Xiang Ethan Sim in board 3.
However, board 4 player Fide Master Ignatius Leong yielded to Jared Teah.
"The 'Kasparov Foundation' finished second among 23 teams in the SG Chess Festival Team Tournament.
The 4-man team comprised GM Darwin Laylo, FM David Elorta, Jayson Tiburcio and I was called to fill on Board 4.
It has been many years since I competed in a full tournament in Singapore - struggling 4.5 and losing the last two in the 7-round Swiss with the time control of 15 minutes plus 10 seconds increment," Leong posted in his facebook account.
