2-time Asian Junior Champion to compete in WFM Lomibao-Beltran Cup PhilBoxing.com Thu, 02 Jun 2022 MANILA---Former 2-time Asian Junior Champion International Master Ricardo de Guzman will be competing in the Woman Fide Master Sheerie Joy Lomibao-Beltran Rapid Open Chess Championship to be held on July 10, 2022, Sunday, 9 am at the Open Kitchen, Rockwell Business Center, Sheridan Street in Mandaluyong City. Organized by Bayanihan Chess Club president NM Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr., sponsored by Woman Fide Master Sheerie Joy Lomibao-Beltran in close cooperation with Ms. China Aurelio and Ms. Mimi Casas of Open Kitchen Food Hall which offers a total pot prizes worth P110,000 with the champion getting the lion share of P10,000 plus IPHONE SE (Apple) mobile phone in the event sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP). "I hope to do well in this upcoming Woman Fide Master Sheerie Joy Lomibao-Beltran Rapid Open Chess Championship," said De Guzman. De Guzman who honed his chess skills under the tutelage of the late Grandmaster Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr., will be pitted against some of the country's best woodpushers that includes 8-time Illinois USA Champion International Master Angelo Abundo Young, International Master Chito Garma, International Master Barlo Nadera, International Master Chris Edgardo Ramayrat Jr., Fide Master Nelson "Elo" Mariano III, Fide Master Robert Suelo Jr. and Fide Master Christopher Castellano. Other notable masters participating are National Master Ivan Travis Cu, National Master Al Basher "Basty" Buto, National Master Oshrie Jhames Reyes, National Master Jasper Faeldonia, National Master Romeo Alcodia, National Master Noel Dela Cruz, National Master Edmundo Gatos, National Master Carlos Edgardo Garma, Woman National Master Daren Loyola Dela Cruz, Woman National Master Kaye Lalaine Regidor and Candidate Master Genghis Katipunan Imperial.
