Biado makes move in time for SEAG; pockets P102,000 in Naga 10 ball tour

MANILA---Former World 9-Ball Champion Carlo "The Black Tiger" Biado continued to make a case as a potential gold medal winner in the 31st Southeast Asian Games after he emerged pool king in the National 10-Ball Tournament held at the Robinson's Mall in Naga City last Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Biado defeated Raymund "The Pharaoh" Faraon, 11-3, in the finals. The victory should boost his confidence for the SEAG in Hanoi, Vietnam where he is one of the country’s bets in the men's 10-ball and 9-ball singles.

On the road to the finals, Biado bested Alexis Ferrer, 10-8, in the Round-of-16, James "Dodong Diamond" Aranas, 10-6, in the Round-of-8 and Anthony "Anton" Raga, 11-6, in the Round-of-4.
Faraon, the pride of Sipocot, Camarines Sur for his part trounced Jerico Bonus, 10-4, in the Round-of-16, Marvin Pastor, 10-4, in the Round-of-8 and Rodrigo "Edgie" Geronimo, 10-11, in the Round-of-4.

According to Tournament Director Darwin Bernadaz, Biado received P102,000 for his effort while Faraon went home the runner-up purse of P30,000.

It was another title for Biado after he won numerous tournament in the United States this year. Just last November, Biado also captured the Abu Dhabi Open 9-Ball Championship beating compatriot Jordan Bañares, 13-6.

“I hope to win the SEAG gold,” said the Rosario, La Union native Biado, who will team up with another popular cue master Johann "Bubwit" Chua in the SEAG.

In the women's side, Rubilen Amit and Chezka Centeno will be seeing action in the 10-ball and 9-ball.

Francisco Dela Cruz will join Efren "Bata" Reyes in the one-cushion and three-cushion carom.

In snooker, Alvin Barbero and Jeffrey Roda are entered in the men's singles and 6-red singles.

Amit and Centeno will be defending the 9-ball and 10-ball singles crown in Hanoi.

Biado, meanwhile, hopes to also win in the 10-ball singles after Dennis Orcollo captured the gold in the event in 2019.
