GM Laylo rules online chess tourney

Manila---Grandmaster Darwin Laylo grabbed the top spot in the BBSU Bullet Arena Leg 7 online blitz chess tournament dubbed as Mahalin Natin ang Pilipinas Chess Tour virtually held at lichess platform last April 28, 2022.
Laylo, one of the top players of multi-titled Philippine Army Chess Team scored Arena 57 points to snare the champion’s purse amounting to P1,000 while reclaiming the title as the fastest Filipino chesser today.
Anatoly Pascua wound up second with 53 points and P750 while Sherwin Tiu and Fide Master David Elorta were third and fourth with 47 and 45 points, respectively, to pocket P500 and P300, in order.
“It feels wonderful. I’m so blessed." said Laylo, who drew his 44th game and lost his final match to Elorta.
With his latest feat, Laylo joins other past winners in the likes of Jonathan Jota, IM Michael Concio Jr., IM Daniel Quizon, Karl Victor Ochoa and FM Alekhine Nouri.-Marlon Bernardino-
