Tepora is making a comeback in Gensan By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Thu, 14 Apr 2022 Jhack Tepora. COMEBACKING Jhack “El Kapitan” Tepora of Cebu will fight in General Santos City against a still unknown opponent on April 26 at the Sanman Gym. The 26-year-old Tepora joined Sanman Boxing in Gensan only last February 1. He will now fight in the lightweight division or 135 pounds. “I’m so excited for my first fight. I thank Boss JC Mananguil and my promoter Sean Gibbons,” said Tepora. Manangquil is the president of Sanman Boxing. Tepora has not climbed the ring since he suffered a knockout loss to Oscar Escandon of Colombia in the 1st round last December 21, 2019 at the Toyota Arena in Ontario. The 5-foot-6 southpaw did not see action for two years until 2021. “What I did was bonding with my wife and two children and then I played basketball to maintain my body,” said Tepora. Tepora, who has a record of 23 wins, 1 loss and 17 knockouts, sparred with Harmonito “Hammer” dela Torre (22-3-0, 14KOs) and Ernie Sanchez (19-17-2, 10KOs). He won the vacant PBF super bantamweight title by a unanimous decision over Andrew Palas of Bohol last January 9, 2016 in Borbon. Tepora then knocked out Jason Tinampay in the 5th round to win the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth super bantamweight title last March 6, 2016 in Cebu. Tepora defended the crown by a technical knockout win in the 1st round over Bryan Capangpangan last July 30, 2016 in Cebu. He then scored a TKO in the 5th round against Galih Susanto of Indonesia to win the vacant WBO Oriental super bantamweight title last December 2, 2016 in Mandaue. Tepora retained his WBO Oriental super bantamweight title by a 1st round knockout over Yon Armed last March 18, 2017 in Cebu. He then went to South Africa to knockout Lusanda Komanisi in the 2nd round to win the vacant WBO Inter-Continental featherweight title last September 22, 2017 in East London. Tepora scored a TKO in the 9th round over Mexican Edivaldo Ortega to win the WBA Interim World featherweight title last July 15, 2018 in Kuala Lumpur. Tepora then posted a unanimous decision over American Jose Gallegos last July 1, 2019 in San Jacinto before he suffered his first loss from Escandon.
