Cosbusters Philippines Corp. Chess Team wins online chess tourney

MANILA---The Cosbusters Philippines Corp. Chess Team reigned supreme in the blitz event Philippine Chess League (PCL) Season 2 - Episode 11 Team Battle virtually held at Lichess Platform last March 6, 2022.

Arena Grandmaster Nezil Arj Merilles (26 points), Arena Grandmaster Carl Zirex Sato (25 points), Adrian Esteva (23 points), Francis Talaboc (22 points), Abdelmunim Hassan (22 points), Roumundo Edades Jr. (18 points), Fern Albert Falle (17 points), Ervil Villa (16 points), Freddie Talaboc (15 points) and Jones Maghuyop (14 points), scored 198 points to capture the crown.

Team Owner Billy Joe Ereno lauded the achievements of the players, saying that this year was a good year for the Cosbusters Philippines Corp. Chess Team.

"Once again, the Cosbusters Philippines Corp.Chess Team has shown that it is not far behind the tough team contenders in Philippine Chess League (PCL) Season 2. Huge congratulations to all our contestants and to lead coach Prince Allan Suliva, Co-Team Owner Engr. Jeson Bolando and Team Manager Jezreel Lopez. On behalf of the Cosbusters Philippines Corp.Chess Team , I would like to thank tournament director Engr. Joel Hicap for generously supporting us in this important endeavor," he said.

The Cosbusters Philippines Corp.Chess Team, who earlier won the rapid chess event Philippine Chess League (PCL) Season 2 - Episode 9 Team Battle last Feb. 28, 2022.

Other member of the team are Team Captain Kevin Arquero, Engr. Bren Sasot, Ritchie Jocson, Vladmir Gonzales, Micahel Pinar, Kate and Ericka Ordizo, Keith Adrian Ilar and Yosef Immanuel Morada.
Chessmis TV Chess Team (187 points), meantime placed second, followed by third placer Zambo Chess Archos (178 points), fourth placer Surigao Diamond Portrait Knight Chess Team (174 points) and fifth placer San Miguel Chess Association Team (164 points).
Rounding up the top 10 were PFCC Chess Team (163 points), Malaybalay Chess Team (158 points), Bicol Chess Players' Advocates (157 points), Malolos City Chess Club (156 points) and Pwede Pa Kami Group Chess Club (154 points).-Marlon Bernardino-
