Inder Bassi: I'm not here to make up the numbers! PhilBoxing.com Wed, 23 Jun 2021 Inder Bassi believes his minor setback is paving the way for a big comeback as he prepares to return on Friday's stacked #MTKFightNight. The must-see card takes place at the University of Bolton Stadium this week, and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank, and worldwide on IFL TV. Bassi (2-1) makes his return against experienced Chris Adaway, looking to get back in the win column following his bout with Jack Martin last November. While he may have come up short on that occasion, Bassi learned a lot from that fight, and plans to use that knowledge to his advantage moving forward. Bassi said: "I'm thankful to be back out again despite everything going on with the pandemic. It was just one of them nights last time out. I started off well, but broke my nose from a headbutt and that changed the fight. "It was only a minor setback though, and it's preparing me for a big comeback. I was in unbelievable shape for that fight and I trained hard, but it taught me a lot about myself in the ring. "I'm not here to make up the numbers. I'll get the ball rolling with another win this week and take it slow and steady, and then hopefully I'll be up there in some nice, big fights. "It's been hard work throughout camp and I'm always giving my best in each session. I'll win here, get a few more fights under my belt this year and then push onto bigger fights next year." Elsewhere on Friday’s action-packed card, Jay Harris and Ricardo Sandoval meet in a final eliminator for the IBF flyweight title, Paul Butler collides with Willibaldo Garcia for the vacant WBO International bantamweight title, Hosea Burton takes on Liam Conroy in a final eliminator for the British light-heavyweight title, Gary Cully fights Viorel Simion, Pierce O’Leary returns against Jan Marsalek, Jordan Reynolds faces Jan Ardon, Tyrone McCullagh goes up against Brett Fidoe, and Blane Hyland squares off with Reiss Taylor. |
