ALA PROMOTIONS ANNOUNCES CO-PROMOTION WITH GOLDEN BOY ON APR 6 ?INVASION?

PhilBoxing.com

Golden Boy Promotions and ALA Promotions in association with giant broadcasting network ABS-CBN has announced a showcase of four championship battles in a blockbuster card dubbed the ?Invasion: Philippines vs. the World? and top-billed by the title fight between reigning WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Pe?alosa and challenger Ratanachai Sor Vorapin of Thailand.

?Invasion? will headline Pe?alosa?s first title defense after he defeated then reigning champion Jhonny Gonzales at 2:45 in the 7th round in August of last year. Vorapin is the No. 1 ranked challenger seeking to dethrone Pe?alosa less than a year after taking the throne.

The undercard will feature three title fights for reigning WBO Intercontinental junior featherweight champion Rey ?Boom-Boom? Bautista and IBF No. 6 junior bantamweight contender AJ ?Bazooka? Banal. Reigning WBO Oriental junior featherweight king Ciso ?Kid Terrible? Morales.

Bautista (24-1-0, KO 17), the 21-yr-old pride of Candijay, Bohol, will be confronting his second title defense against Genaro Camargo (16-3-0, KO 10) of Sinaloa, Mexico. He won the vacant WBO Inter-Continental super bantamweight title in Feb 2007 when he defeated Mexican Marino Montiel in the 4th round. At the same time he gained the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth super bantamweight championship belt.

Banal (16-0-1, KO 13) will be waging a 12-round IBF eliminator for the No. 1 position against IBF No. 10 junior bantamweight contender Caril Herrera, a veteran undefeated warrior (21-0-0, KO 13) from Montevideo, Uruguay. The winner in this bloody contest would have a striking distance at the championship crown currently held by Russian warrior Dimitri Kirilov.

Another Boholano from Talbon, Morales will be in his first title defense against Korean Yoo Shin Kim (6-1-0, KO 4) of Seoul. Morales took over last month the vacant WBO Oriental super bantamweight division as well as the vacant WBO Asia Pacific super bantamweight title when he defeated by unanimous decision Marangin Marbun of Indonesia. He remains undefeated in his ten career fights and won six by way of knockout.

The Pe?alosa-Vorapin card is set to rock the ring at Araneta Coliseum on April 6 (Sunday) in Quezon City, Manila.

Meanwhile, ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer also announced that a press conference for the upcoming ?Invasion? card will be held on Mar 18 (Tuesday) at the Magnolia Room of City Sports Club Cebu in Cebu Business Park at 11:00 AM. Expected to attend in the gathering will be Bautista, Banal, and non-title fighters Michael Domingo and Bert Batawang. Morales, who is now training in the United States, could not attend the press con.
