Lerone Harrison turns professional with MTK Global

PhilBoxing.com

MTK Global is delighted to announce the signing of Lerone Harrison ahead of his plans to turn professional.

Salford boxer Lerone is the son of the late, great boxing trainer Oliver Harrison, who trained some of the very best boxers in the sport, including Amir Khan, Jamie Moore, Martin Murray, Rocky Fielding and many more.

Oliver's legendary time in boxing saw Lerone in the gym from a young age, allowing him to learn the ropes and have a successful amateur career, winning a number of regional tournaments in the process.

He will now enter the paid ranks alongside MTK Global, and he's thrilled to be doing his father proud and making this next step in his career.

Harrison said: "I'm absolutely buzzing to be a part of the MTK Global team. I’ve heard so many good things which is what made my decision so easy and I'm itching to make my debut on one of the upcoming shows.

"To be part of a team with such a high calibre group of boxers is amazing. I’ve been training with the likes of Jack Catterall, Chantelle Cameron, Carl Frampton and Steven Ward who have all been part of MTK and they’re all so talented and helping me to improve in the gym.

"In the amateurs I had decent success winning every regional tournament I entered besides one. I reached the finals and semi-finals on multiple occasions just coming shy of a national title. I'm proud of what I achieved however I know I could’ve achieved more if outside circumstances weren't distracting me.

"The transition from amateur to professional isn’t easy, however I’ve always been told my style is suited to the pros so I feel I might be finding it easier than a traditional amateur and with the boxers in my gym helping me to improve I am really enjoying it.

"I’ve learnt so much from my dad. He’s had me in the gym since I was born so all I know is a gym environment. I feel the knowledge and attributes he has given me will show in the pros. I also couldn’t be prouder to be carrying his heritage into the pros and I hope to make my dad and the rest of my family proud.

"In my first 12 months I want to stay undefeated and build my career up to the point where I'm seen as a talented prospect with high expectations to make noise in the next few years."

MTK Global Promoter Lee Eaton added: "We are proud to welcome Lerone to the team. He's been learning from some of the best fighters in the sport by training alongside the likes of Carl Frampton, Jack Catterall, Chantelle Cameron and Steven Ward for a large period, and I'm certain their expertise will have rubbed off on him.

"We all know what a legend his father Oliver was in the sport, and I'm confident that Lerone will have a fantastic career that his dad will have been proud of."

News on when Harrison will make his professional debut will be announced in due course.
