Strawweight champion Pamela Mara Assis ruled SFT MMA 2020 Women's Awards

PhilBoxing.com

SAO PAULO, Brazil (January 29, 2021)- SFT MMA (Standout Fighting Tournament) announced its 2020 award winners and SFT strawweight champion Pamela Mara Assis captured top honors in three of the four categories.

SFT Tournament) is the only Brazil-based MMA promotional company to have a panel of mixed-martial-arts experts, as opposed to a popularity vote, select its annual winners.

"SFT MMA is dedicated to supporting women's competition on an equal basis with men," SFT president David Hudson said. "Pamela Mara Assis was clearly the best of the best last year. She is the only woman SFT MMA champion. Pamela dominated the action in SFT women's mixed martial arts, but Karine "Killer" Silva, Julia Polastri and Sidy Roach are all world-class MMA fighters."

Assi (5-2-1, SFT 2-0-0) was 2-0 in SFT competition last year during the abbreviated season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, capturing top honors for three different awards: Fighter, Fight and Performance. She defeated Andreia "Thai" Sarafim by away of fourth-round submission at SFT 22, locking in a rear naked choke, in the 2020 Fight of the Year. This fight also earned her Performance of the Year, all adding up to Fighter of the Year.

SFT bantamweight Karine "Killer" Silva (13-4-0, SFT: 2-0-0) was the recipient of the 2020 SFT Submission of the Year, when she used an armbar to submit Sidy Roach at SFT 22.
