GABALLO REPLACES NONITO DONAIRE JR TO FIGHT RODRIGUEZ FOR WBC STRAP

Promising Filipino bantamweight champ Raymart Gaballo (23-0) was originally scheduled to fight Jose Velasquez in the undercard of the Donaire-Rodriguez world title clash to be featured on Showtime on December 19. But fate has better plans for the Filipino as he was upgraded to substitute co-Filipino Nonito Donaire in facing former IBF World Bantamweight champion Emmanuel Rodriguez (19-1) with the WBC Interim belt being proposed at stake.
Gaballo has been training in Miami since the start of the pandemic under the tutelage of Cuban coach Moro Fernandez and has been itching to step on the ring once again. “ I am very excitef for this fight. It’s been almost a year since my last fight and my opponent Rodriquez is a great boxer but I will do everything to win. ”, Gaballo stated.
Gaballo has been on a 23 fight winning streak while Rodriguez’s most recent and only loss was against Naoya Inoue in 2019.
