Batul, Ruiz top COA chess tourney

Ebennezer "Venz" Batul of Mariveles, Bataan showed his class by besting his competition in the 10th Inter-Regional Sportsfest for Luzon Commission on Audit (COA) Chess Tournament held at Ilagan Hotel in Ilagan City, Isabela from March 2-6, 2020 with five (5) competing regions from 1, 2, 3, 4A and 4B.
Batul, an State Auditor II of COA 3 emerged victorious in the men's division with 8 points, followed by second place Ronald Agcaoili and 3rd place Chester Mendoza who both tallied 6.5 points apiece. Joel Osorio came fourth with 6 points and Miguel Diaz at fifth place with 3 points.
In the women's play, Dapne Ruiz, an State Auditor II of COA Region 3 complete the double celebration by dominating her division with perfect 10 points.
Other competing players were 2nd place Glaiza Orteza (7 points), 3rd place Jenalyn Nabua ( 6 points),4th place Shelrilyn Hernandez (5 points) and 5th place Irene Palubos (2 points).
Both Batul and Ruiz from Region 3 will represent Luzon group in National COA games on May 2-8, 2020.
