Aldea TKOs Laurente in 2nd round

DAVAO CITY -- Philippine lightweight champion Roldan "The Cobra" Aldea of Negros Occidental stopped Monico "Mekaniko" Laurente of Agusan dei Sur by a technical knockout in the 2nd round last Feb. 1 at the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.
It was the 9th technical knockout and the 15 wins by the 25-year old Aldea against eight loss and one draw while the 34-year old Laurente suffered his 17th defeat against 30 wins.
Aldea earlier scored two wins against two losses last year.
Meanwhile, the fight between Carlo Caesar "Too Sharp" Penalosa of Misamis Oriental and Alphoe "Wolverine" Dagayloan of Dipolog for the vacant Philippine flyweight resulted in a majority draw.
The boxing promoter is Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde Jr. of the Elorde International Productions.
