SHOCKING REVELATIONS OVER INDON BOXER WHO DIED

PhilBoxing.com

In a revelation over the death of Indonesian boxer Anis Dwi Mulya who was suffered a sixth round TKO against Irfan Bone in a televised bout last March 15, boxing writer Damar Harsanto of the Jakarta Post said the results of an investigation into the boxer?s death were ?shocking.?

The death of Anis who underwent surgery twice for epidural bleeding in the head grabbed public attention forcing relevant bodies including the Indonesian Body for Professional Sports ? BP2OPI -to launch a probe.

Harsanto said doctors discovered that Anis ?was not fit to fight.? Dr Tunggul Marpaung who led the team of surgeons was quoted as saying that Anis ?didn?t only suffer bleeding but also another illness, very likely dengue.? Harsanto said they found out that Anis had fought under a different name ? Budi Tampela ? and was knocked out during a bout in 2005 and ?had not had a thorough medical examination after the
incident.?

The Jakarta Post writer also revealed that what was worse is that BP2OPI issued a new ?log book? for him using a different name ? Anis Dwi Mulya ? ?without listing the 2005 KO in his record? which Harsanto claimed was ?a common practice in the country?s (Indonesia?s) low-paid boxing world where boxers need to be available at short notice to fight in order to make a living.?

Harsanto quoted sources close to the sport as telling him that the payment for a boxer ?can often be as low as $21 per bout? which is less than P1,000.

The writer added that so far ?no concrete action has been taken to follow up the recurrent death of boxers in the ring ? 12 in the past seven years? reported in Indonesia.

Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today checked the boxrec.com records and found out that Anis was 24 years old and had a reported record of 1 win against 5 losses with 4 of the losses by knockouts. In another startling aspect boxrec.com reported that the Indonesian?s first bout was against Japan?s Manabu Fukushima who had a record of 20-3-1 with 14 knockouts. As expected Anis lost by a second round KO.
