PhilBoxing.com

Bangkok, THAILAND -- In exciting close-combat battles that thrilled fans, Japanese fighters Yuya Nakamura and Ryo Hashiya got their hands raised high during their Friday night fights at Ram 100 Boxing Stadium in Ramkamhaeng here in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand.

In the card's main event, come-forward Nippon fighter Yuya Nakamura, 27, of Osaka scored a hard-fought unanimous decision win over tough 23 year-old Thai warrior Worraphon Jesadajindawat.

Scores in all three cards were for Nakamura (7-1, 5 KO's) whose next battle will be May 26 for the vacant WBA Asia Bantamweight belt against experienced Indonesian brawler Noldi Manakane.

Nakamura, also a Muay Thai warror who fought in a tough Muay Thai combat just three days ago -- was coached in his corner by Filipino cornerman Jayvee Alipio of Highland Boxing.

MORE RESULTS FROM THAILAND

In another exciting clash, unbeaten 19 year-old Japanese Ryo Hashiya of Osaka overpowered Veelayut Yejanthuk, rocking him with right overheads and blows to the mid-section that proved too much punishment for the brave Thai fighter who capitulated in the canvas during the rough action of round 3.

In women's boxing, Thai bantamweight Phannaluk Kongsang, 23, of Khon Kaen decisioned spirited 20 year-old rockie Jovy Chan (Jia Yi Chan) of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The taller, more experienced Kongsang used good jabs and straight rights to outbox the brave Jovy during their entertaining 6-rounder match. Scores were unanimous for the Thai woman warrior.

In another international battle, undefeated Chinese welterweight Zhen Li scored a win over Thai journeyman Vachayan Khamon after Khamon retired at the end of round four. The Chinese Zhen Li was leading with wide margins in all three scorecards.

The supervisor for the card was Thai Army Coronel Mr. Damrong Simakajornboon.

"Fight for Glory" Friday night at Ram 100 Thai Boxing Gym in Ramkamhaeng, Bangkok, Thailand, was an effort of Filipino Promoter Brico Santig, director of Highland Boxing, in cooperation with Thai man of boxing Mr. Supanat Chanram. Brico Santig is the winner of this year's WBC's Oriental Promoter of the Year Award.

Winner Yuya Nakamura (R) with his cornerman Filipno Joyvee Alipio.
