Casimero vs Nery for WBA Gold Super Bantamweight Title April 18 in Kyrgyzstan! Their thrilling showdown is one of the main attractions for the big 3-day boxing event taking place from April 17-19 at the Gazprom Sports Complex in Kyrgyzstan, promoted by Japanese former champ Koki Kameda. The 37-year-old Casimero (35-5-1, 24 KOs), born in Ormoc, Leyte, is a 3-division world champion with reigns in the Light Flyweight, Flyweight, and bantamweight divisions; with his eyes set on the super bantamweight undisputed world title. ![]() Casimero has been one of the most feared, controversial and avoided names in boxing; and his experience will be put to the test against a formidable wild slugger with knockout power Luis Nery. Unfortunately, as fantastic boxer as he is, Casimero has attracted significant attention for his conduct outside of the ring, including allegations of assault and threats against boxing personalities. A bad boy some times he has been? It seems so. Despite that, Casimero bounced back with a knockout win over Tom Mizokoshi (11-6-2, 5KOs) last December in Japan. Thankfully, John Riel is now in the right path, with a really great fight ahead of him. His tons of followers and fans in Ormoc, here in Cebu, and all over the Philippines want him winning in April 18! Can John Riel Casimero stop Nery and become a very possible challenger for the winner of Inoue vs Nakatani?
