Team USA Earns Three More Wins on Day Four of World Boxing Futures Cup

PhilBoxing.com

Christian Paez, Asante Lamar and Asaan Jenkins Advance in Tournament Competition

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 11, 2026) – The USA Boxing Youth High Performance secured another successful day at the 2026 World Boxing Futures Cup in Bangkok, Thailand. The United States advanced three boxers to the next round of their respective brackets, all of whom were men’s competitors. Team USA has compiled a 12-2 record throughout the opening four days of competition in Thailand and has 15 boxers still in the hunt for gold medals.

Christian Paez (men’s 55 kg | San Antonio, Texas) opened the day for the United States against Ecuador’s Erick Aucatoma in the Round of 32. He began the bout with his dominant pressure and secured an eight-count before sweeping all five cards in the opening round, four of which were 10-8 cards. He then turned up the heat in the second and swept all five judges with five 10-8 scorecards before earning a stoppage in the final round.

With the win, Paez advances to the Round of 16, where he will face Azerbaijan’s Nihat Gasimov on Thursday. The San Antonio, Texas, native has three wins this week, including two stoppages and one unanimous decision.

Asante Lamar (men’s 70 kg | Cincinnati, Ohio) stepped into the ring next for the Red, White and Blue and wasted no time imposing his will against Bangladesh’s Noyon Tripura Jani in the Round of 32. After claiming all five cards in the opening round, Lamar continued to rely on his reach advantage and his elusive defense to frustrate his opponent before ultimately securing the unanimous decision victory.

Lamar advances to the Round of 16, where he will square off against Japan’s Kenshiro Moko on Thursday during the opening session.

Asaan Jenkins (men’s 65 kg | Washington, D.C.) concluded the day for the United States against Georgia’s Luka Chkhikvadze. Jenkins was lights out from start to finish and opened the bout with a 4-1 lead heading into the second round. Throughout the final two rounds, Jenkins utilized his speed and defense to consistently make Chkhikvadze miss and deplete his energy. The southpaw from Washington, D.C., closed the bout with a unanimous decision.

Jenkins will now face Armenia’s Suren Katvalyan in the Round of 16 on Thursday in the second session. Refugio Veloz (men’s 50 kg | Atwater, Calif.) also competed for the USA on Wednesday but was defeated by Ukraine via unanimous decision.

Thursday’s schedule will be another busy day for the United States with 11 boxers slated to take the ring. There will be five Americans in action during the opening session, and six more will compete in the second session. Of Thursday’s 11 Team USA bouts, there will be five women and six men performing.

The USA Boxing Youth High Performance Team is led by National Development Coach Edward Fonteneaux (Fayetteville, N.C.). Fonteneaux will be assisted throughout the tournament by High Performance Pool coaches, including Holly Gregson (Idaho Falls,
Idaho), Jason Hamilton (Spanaway, Wash.), Yessenia Montalvo (Bloomfield, N.J.), and Ronald Wright (Columbus, Ga.).

Additional tournament information for the 2026 World Boxing Futures Cup, including daily bout sheets, results, tournament updates, and more, will be uploaded to USA Boxing’s 2026 World Boxing Futures Cup event page.
