UNDEFEATED TASMANIAN LUKE WOODS TO ENHANCE HIS REPUTATION IN THE SUPER8

PhilBoxing.com

Woods.

LUKE WOODS ARGUABLY HAS THE BIGGEST ADVANTAGE and the biggest disadvantage of all eight fighters in the Super8 tournament on November 25 as part of the TGW & Smithy Bring the Big Fights 18 card at Rumours International.

His advantage is he's just out of the amateurs so he's well conditioned to three round bouts. His disadvantage - he's the 'baby' of the field with just three pro bouts to his name.

"I'm wrapped, this is an opportunity of a life time," Woods said.

"It's an opportunity to get my name out there and to get some money in my bank account which will go towards my dream of challenging for a World title.

"Anything can happen on the night but having my last few years in the amateurs without the head gear over three three's is a massive help."

Woods will make the trek from Tasmania to Toowoomba for the opportunity to be crowned the Super8 King.

He brings with him great credentials.

As an amateur he represented Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and is a former Australian amateur champion.

Since turning pro just over a year ago he's undefeated in three bouts, one by knock out which came in his pro debut.

His second and third career fights have been even more impressive he outpointed Ricardo Cejas 60-54 on all three score cards and defeated Vachayan Khamon in a four round shut out. (40-35,40-34, 40-33)

In three pro bouts he's boxed a total of 14 rounds and he's never dropped a round on any judges score card.

Now he comes into a Super8 tournament against seven opponents from varied back grounds.

"My team has been studying films of all these blokes so I can be as prepared as I can be," Woods said.

"Knowing I can potentially get three professional fight experiences under my belt is a huge opportunity alone."

The 8 confirmed competitors are

Jack Asis - former IBO World Champion.
Jamie Hilt - Queensland Welterweight champion
Michael Katsidis - Former two time World champion
Mick Shaw - Former Australian Champion
Ya Jie Ding - Chinese rising star
Luke Woods - Commonwelth Games amateur, 3-0 as a pro
Robert Toomey - Former IBO Oceania Champion
Jason Kanofski - Former Queensland Champion

"I don't take anything without trying to win it." Woods said

"That's the honest truth, any fight I'm in I think I can win it and I leave no stone unturned leading into a fight - ever."
